Jake Adelstein is an American journalist and writer who has spent much of his career in Japan covering vice and organised crime. For 12 years, Adelstein was a crime reporter for the Yomiuri Shinbun and was the first American to work for a Japanese newspaper as a Japanese language reporter. He left the newspaper after receiving threats against his life and family and was subsequently an investigative reporter for a US State Department investigation into organised crime in Japan. Jake is author of the book Tokyo Vice, board member of the Polaris Project Japan, and assistant editor of the Japan Subculture Research Center.

Francesca Bosco earned a law degree in 2005 and was a practicing attorney for two years. Since 2006 she has been working for UNICRI as a member of the Emerging Crimes Unit. In her role in this organization she is responsible for cybercrime projects. She began collaborating on different cybercrime related projects such as the Hackers Profiling Project (HPP), SCADA Security (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and a multi level training program for ICT and security professionals, lawyers, and law enforcement agencies. More recently Ms. Bosco is researching and developing technical assistance and capacity building programs to assess and counter the involvement of organized crime in cybercrime.

Raoul Chiesa was born in Turin, Italy, in 1973. After being among the first Italian hackers back in the 90's (1986-1995), Raoul decided to move to professional InfoSec, founding in 1997 @Mediaservice.net Srl, a vendor-neutral and well known security consulting company. Since 2003 he started its cooperation with the UN agency UNICRI working on "HPP", the Hackers Profiling Project run by ISECOM and UNICRI; in 2005 he has been official recognized by UNICRI's Director, Mr. Sandro Calvani, as a cybercrime advisor. Nowadays his role at UNICRI is "Senior Advisor, Strategic Alliances and Cybercrime Issues Technical Contact Officer". On February 2010, Raoul has been selected among the 30 European top security experts to assist the ENISA Director until 2012 at the PSG, Permanent Stakeholders Group, for the European Network & Information Security Agency.

Alessandro Donati is Specialised in Athletics, speed and middle distance races, by the Central School of Sport of C.O.N.I., Professor of Sport, head of research and anti-doping expert. Mr Donati took several charges in the past in the sport area, such as: Responsible for the Research and Development Division of the C.O.N.I. from 1990 until 2000. Mr Donati is a renowned international expert on the transnational trafficking of narcotics.

Since 2000 she started working as a journalist in the communitarian radio station Novaradio, in Florence. In 2003 she co-founded the news and communication cooperative "Innova", where she was deputy president. In 2006 she enters in the Italian Book of Professional Journalists. In the same year, Cecilia Ferrara produces a video for the italian NGO Arcs/Arci about the work camp in Klina (Kosovo). In summer 2007 she starts her collaboration with the Italian Cooperation Office for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sarajevo. In January 2009, she moves to Belgrade, working for the Italian Cooperation Office of Belgrade as an Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expert. Cecialia Ferrara also collaborates for several online and offline newspapers.

Riccardo Ghia is an Italian investigative journalist based in London. Between 2005 and 2007, he worked as a crime and court reporter for several Italian newspapers. In 2010, Ghia graduated from Penn State University, United States, in print journalism. Ghia wrote "Italian white-collar crime in the globalization era", a 200-page journalistic investigation exposing ties between multinationals, organised crime and political corruption in the deindustrialisation process affecting Western Europe. He is currently taking a Master of Arts in international journalism at City University London.

Declan Hill is an investigative journalist, documentary maker and academic. He specializes in the study of organized crime and international issues. His recent book ‘The Fix: Soccer & Organized Crime’ examined the corruption at the heart of international football and has become a best-seller in eight languages. Before publishing ‘The Fix’ he completed documentaries on the killing of the head of the Canadian mafia, blood feuds in Kosovo and ethnic cleansing in Iraq. He has also made documentaries in Kurdistan, Bolivia, India, Mexico, and Turkey.

Yulia Leonidovna Latynina is a Russian journalist, writer and radio host. She works at the radio station Echo of Moscow. She also writes for Novaya Gazeta and The Moscow Times. Yulia is the author of several science fiction books. As sharp critic of Russian policies, she received an investigative journalism award by Corriere della Sera dedicated to Maria Grazia Cutuli and the Freedom Defenders Award by Condoleezza Rice at a US Department ceremony in 2008.

Ioannis Michaletos has been educated in the UK in the fields of Political Science (BA) and HRM (MSc). He is occupied as an indepedent journalist-security analyst for Greek & international organizations and media, including Jane's information Group, European Oil & Gas Monitor and European Energy Review. He is a correspondent analyst for ISRIA a security assessment agency

Narcomafie is an Italian monthly magazine entirely focused on organised crime. The magazine, founded in 1993, counts on the contributions of numerous journalists, prosecutors, scholars, documentation centers and associations. Born after the slaughters of judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in 1992, Narcomafie has since showed the connections between organised crime and the Italian State. The magazine is edited by Gruppo Abele.

Novaya Gazeta is a Russian newspaper well-known in the country for its critical and investigative coverage of Russian political and social affairs. It is published in Moscow, regions within Russia and in some foreign countries. As of 2009, the newspaper is published on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Four Novaya Gazeta journalists were murdered between 2001 and 2009.

José Gil Olmos is a journalist since 1989. In 1993 he reported the Conflicto de Chiapas for the newspaper La Jornada. Since 2001 he works for the magazine Proceso for which he reports about politics, social issues and conflicts. José's articles have been also published in France and Spain.

Henry Peltokangas is a citizen of Finland; he studied in the United States at Mercyhurst College and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence Studies. Since then he has worked for iSIGHT Partners Europe as an intelligence analyst specializing in European eCrime. He is currently in charge of production and review of analytical work produced by iSIGHT Partners’ European office in Amsterdam, while completing his Masters degree in Intelligence Analysis via American Military University.

Enza Roberta Petrillo is a PhD in Geopolitics currently working as an independent research consultant for international organizations and think tanks (FAO, OSCE-ODIHR and others). Formerly Post-Doc Research Fellow at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa, she is carrying out researches and participating in research team in the area of Eastern European politics, institutional and social transition of Balkan and CIS countries, transnational organized crime and shadow economies. Her research interests combine a background in international relations and geopolitics with interdisciplinary expertise in social sciences and empirical research methodology, including field research in Kosovo, Albania, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus and Ukraine. Petrillo writes for several journals and reviews focused on current affairs related to the Balkans and the Cis countries.

Oksana Prykhodko is Ukranian journalist, media expert and civil society activist. She is certified specialist on Internet Governance (diplomas of The European Summer School on Internet Governance in Meissen and distant courses of DiploFoundation). Member of the Council of Europe Group of Experts on human rights in informational society, co-organizer of the First Ukrainian Forum on Internet Governance. Currently Oksana Prykhodko is the director of the international NGO "European Media Platform".

Cynthia Rodriguez is a Mexican journalist. She lives in Italy since 2006 and is foreign correspondent for the Mexican weekly Proceso. She also collaborates with the online magazine Reporte Indigo, dailies El Universal, Excelsior and Dia Siete as well as with some radios. In 2009 Cynthia published her first book: Contacto en Italia. El pacto entre Los Zetas y la 'Ndrangheta.

Jurgen Roth is one of the best investigative journalists in Germany. Organised crime has become his field of study since 1971 and today Jurgen is among the most reliable scholars on organised crime related issues. He is author of several books, among which "The new Bulgarian demons", "Mafialand Deutschland", "The Oligarchs", "Gangster Wirtschaft".

Drew Sullivan is a journalist and media development specialist based in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Washington DC. He is the founder of the Journalism Development Group LLC, a leading innovator in media development around the world. JDG designed, built and managed the Center for Investigative Reporting in Bosnia-Herzegovina, a leading independent, regional investigative news organization. CIN founded the Crime and Corruption Reporting Program with other regional partners where Drew served as director.

Matteo Tacconi is a journalist specialised in and writes about social and political affairs of east european countries, the Balkans and post-Soviet Union countries for several Italian media. He also covers organised crime and drug trafficking issues for the magazine Narcomafie since 2006. Matteo Tacconi is author of "Kosovo: la storia, la guerra e il futuro" and "C'era una volta il Muro: viaggio nell'Europa ex comunista".

Marcela Turati is a journalist at the magazine Proceso. She covers powerty, human rights, social movements and effect of drug trafficking violence issues. Since 2008 she reports from the city of Ciudad Juarez, the core of Mexican violence. She is the founder and coordinator of the network Periodistas de a pie. Marcela is coordinator and coauthor of the book “"Infancias vemos... migraciones no sabemos" and coauthor of “La guerra por Juarez”.
