VALJEVO - Assistant Infrastructure Minister Milorad Ilić and Kolubara District Head Milivoje Obrenović were arrested on Wednesday for abuse of office
They are accused of abuse of office during the privatization of Jablanica public company in the western Serbian town of Valjevo.
According to police, the suspects are charged with having caused over EUR 2mn worth of damages to the company.
In addition to Ilić and Obrenović, the authorities arrested five more persons for involvement in the same crime, the police said.
Jablanica Director Dobrica Živanović from Mladenovac and former company Director Saša Đoković from Valjevo are among the arrested suspects.
Jablanica Management Board members Milka Selaković, Dušan Pavković and Milan Ignjatović were also arrested.
Police are looking for Jablanica majority owner Slobodan Radojević aka Boba Era and Management Board Chairman Ljubomir Mačković.
According to police, Radojević is also a majority owner of MBR and Cobest companies from Mladenovac and Autosrbija company from Belgrade. The Higher Court in Belgrade is conducting proceedings against him for multiple criminal acts.
The charges will also include three persons that are currently in custody and against whom the Higher Court in Belgrade is conducting criminal proceedings – Slobodan Đoković, Biljana Živanović and Dejan Đurić.
