He told the gathering that the trafficking route of almost 80 percent of heroin from Western Europe is passing through the Balkans.

He added that therefore the region is in need of agencies to fight against illegal drug trafficking.

“For that reason, the information exchange with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the organizer of the conference, has been stepped up, and only during the last year there were nearly a thousand pieces of information which entered the exchange channels,” reads a report of the Serbian Interior Ministry quoting Dačić.

According to Dačić, the motto of the conference is to join forces in fight against drug-related crime which is spread round the globe.

The MUP members held a presentation on trends of organized crimes in the Balkans, with special focus on the Balkan war against heroin.

Dačić arrived on a four-day visit to Mexico on April 4.
