Spanish authorities busted an international cocaine trafficking ring. In the frames of the operation, which took two months, authorities arrested 36 people, mainly Latin-Americans, La Informacion informed.

There are also citizens from Spain, Bolivia, Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Romania among the detainees.

The 36 detainees have been pressed charges for banned substances smuggling, involvement in organised crime group, money laundering, documents forgery and illegal arms possession.
The investigation started in October 2011.

The drug used to be imported from Bolivia through the seaports and airports in Catalonia, as well as in postal parcels and Romanian ‘mules’.
In the frames of the operation authorities seized 83 kilos of cocaine, 2.5 kilos of hashish, cocaine purification chemicals and more than EUR 50,000.
