Roberto Scarpinato
was part of the anti-mafia pool with Falcone and Borsellino, and in 1991 he was part of the Anti-Mafia Directorate.

In 1993 he was one of  prosecutors at the Andreotti’s  trial. He was involved in the investigations on the murder of Salvo Lima as well as on the murders of Piersanti Mattarella, Pio La Torre and Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa.

In 2005 he became Director of the Department studying the relation between Mafia and economy, dismantling illegal colossal fortunes from 2008 to 2010 and seizing assets in Italy and abroad for a value of around three billion Euros.

He is currently the General Attorney of Caltanissetta. Scarpinato was among the first to theorize the existence of the relationship between Mafia and politics and investigate the grey area represented by the so-called ‘bourgeoisie mafia’. He was protagonist in the line of investigation on the Mafia, politics and the so-called ‘criminal systems’. These themes are developed in the book "Il Ritorno del Principe", written with Saverio Lodato, published by Chiarelettere.

Leoluca Orlando was mayor of Palermo from 1985 to 2000, MEP from 1994 to 1999, and Italian MP since 2005. During his career, he has distinguished himself for his efforts against the Mafia and for the civic battles. Among his achievements, we must remember the foundation of the political movement 'La Rete', which in the '90s was characterized by its opposition to Italian political corruption and malfeasance. In his role as mayor of Palermo, Leoluca Orlando has completed the law for the refusal of public contracts to companies suspected of belonging to Mafia families. Orlando continues to this day to be characterized by his political commitment to combat organized crime."
